I lost my grandfather, Arthur, to pulmonary fibrosis when I was in high school. We were very close (both literally and figuratively as he lived a little over a mile from my family home). His diagnosis, battle with clinical trials, and eventual decline were devastating for my family.
I also struggled with reactive airway disease for most of my childhood and finally outgrew the ailment during my early college years. Since then, I have become an avid runner and have always wanted to run on behalf of Team PFF since lung diseases have had a profound affect on my life as well as my family.
