Research study participants are essential in the quest for new treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

Each month, we'll highlight a few of the many trials enrolling volunteers. All past issues are available on the PFF Clinical Trials Blog. To view more trials for various forms of interstitial lung disease (ILD), visit the đź”Ť  PFF Clinical Trial Finder.

Share your research study experience with us

We are interested in learning about your experience participating in research studies for ILD. If you would like to share your journey, please complete the “My research study story” online form. We will select submissions to feature in the "Putting a face to the science" section of our clinical trials newsletter (see below). This initiative aims to highlight unique perspectives from the PF and ILD community. Thank you for your consideration and taking the time to share your experience with the PFF and broader community. We sincerely appreciate your contribution to our future newsletters.

Putting a face to the science: living with IPF

Mark noticed difficulty catching his breath while struggling to walk uphill, and a friend urged him to seek medical advice. Managing the schedule of appointments, insurance paperwork, and exercise routines that followed soon felt like a new part-time job for Mark.

Mark attributes his ability to remain active and travel since his IPF diagnosis to medication, pulmonary rehabilitation, and participation in a clinical trial. Following in his father’s footsteps by participating in research, Mark attempted to enroll in a clinical trial numerous times, succeeding with his fourth attempt. He views trial participation as a way to give back the care he has received throughout his IPF journey and a personal benefit because he has additional oversight on his condition during the trial. Mark serves as a PFF Ambassador to educate others and raise awareness for IPF.
