BI 765423 is a potential first-in-class, selective monoclonal antibody that inhibits Interleukin-11 (IL-11). BI 765423 binds directly to IL-11, preventing it from interacting with its receptors (IL-11RĪ± and gp130). This disruption stops downstream pathogenic signaling (ERK and STAT3 pathways), stopping fibroblast activation and lung scarring.
Study Purpose
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study that evaluates the safety and efficacy of BI 765423 compared to placebo in patients diagnosed with IPF.
