by Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation
May 20, 2026

Clinical trial participants are essential in the quest for new treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

Each month, we'll highlight a few of the many trials enrolling volunteers. All past issues are available on the PFF Clinical Trials Blog. To view more trials for various forms of interstitial lung disease (ILD), visit the đź”Ť  PFF Clinical Trial Finder.

We are interested in learning about your experience participating in research studies for ILD. If you would like to share your journey, please complete the "My research study story" online form. We will select story submissions to feature in the "Putting a face to the science" section of our clinical trials newsletter (see below). This initiative aims to highlight unique perspectives from the PF and ILD community.

Thank you for your consideration and taking the time to share your experience with the PFF and broader community. We sincerely appreciate your contribution to our future newsletters.

Putting a face to the science: living with myositis-associated ILD

Dionn was devoted to helping others as a social worker, community volunteer, and church member. For years, she would get bronchitis every winter but didn’t think it was a cause for concern.

When Dionn was finally diagnosed with myositis-associated ILD, telling her family was difficult and for those she loves, hearing the diagnosis was scary. After processing the news together, her family rallied around her and became a strong source of support. Determined not to take anything for granted, Dionn focuses on doing the things she enjoys, including singing, directing her church choir, and serving as the minister of music at her church. She also remains deeply connected to the PF and ILD community through support groups, webinars, and educational resources. She never thought one day she would share her experiences as a PFF Ambassador, but here she is, raising awareness and “crushing life” with her family and friends by her side.
