Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, physician’s assistants, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses engaged in the care of patients with pulmonary fibrosis.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:


• Explain the pathophysiology of IPF based on the most current data
• Accurately diagnose IPF using a systematic approach
• Effectively implement key diagnostic procedures including HRCT scanning and surgical lung biopsy
• Discuss recent evidence for treatments in the management of IPF/ILD and for those post COVID-19
• Recognize genetic components of IPF
• Describe the role of lung transplantation in IPF, and the factors that affect candidacy and timing
• Provide patient lifestyle management tools which improve functional status
• Develop a comprehensive approach to the management of IPF/ILD, that includes both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies
• Provide accurate and appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Partners for Advancing Clinical Education (Partners) and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF).  Partners is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.


Physician Continuing Education

Partners designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 22.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.


To receive CME credit and/or MOC points, you MUST pass the posttest and complete the evaluation. For ABIM MOC points, your information will be shared with the ABIM through Partners Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JAPARS). Upon completion of the online evaluation, your credit will be submitted to CPE Monitor. Pharmacists have up to thirty (30) days to complete the evaluation and claim credit. Please check your NABP account within thirty (30) days to make sure the credit has posted.  

Social Work Continuing Education

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Partners for Advancing Clinical Education is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 22.0 Clinical continuing education credits.


Continuing Respiratory Care Education

Application has been made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists.
