2nd Annual Skate for Stephen (skate, run, bike or walk)
On May 20th, 2015 our beloved Stephen Craig Ward died from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This year, we will hoId our "2nd Annual Skate for Stephen" on May 20, 2017.
Once again, we would like to raise $2000 to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Stephen. We are grateful to those who contributed last year to help us meet our goal and we look forward to that accomplishment again this year. The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation’s mission is to act as the trusted resource for all who are affected by this disease, which currently has no cure.
Stephen was an avid inline skater, having skated in approximately a dozen races, mostly marathons. Struggles during his training regimen eventually led to the discovery of his Pulmonary Fibrosis. To celebrate Stephen, we will return to Baker Park Reserve, his favorite place to train. We would love to have you walk, run, bike, rollerblade or just reminisce with us. We are holding our “2nd Annual Skate for Stephen” on the paved trail around Lake Katrina at Baker Park.
A note on parking: We suggest you park in the small lot off of County Road 29 (Baker Park Road) approximately .3 miles north of Hwy. 12 or the Park and Ride, just .1 miles north of Hwy. 12 on Baker Park Road.
If you are able to participate at the park, come between 10:00a.m. and 2:00p.m. Saturday, May 20. We will be waiting with hugs and water at the bench at the bottom of the hill where the parking trail meets the main trail!
If you cannot join us or the weather does not cooperate, we would appreciate you considering making a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Stephen's name using this site by clicking the "Donate" button. Even if you are joining us, you can also donate here.
Thank you for your support. Hope to see you on the trail!
Joanie, Tristana and Leia Ward
