Mammoth Lakes Half Marathon
My father recently passed away from pulmonary fibrosis. It was heart breaking to watch such a strong and active man lose his health to this disease. There is nothing more heartbreaking than finding out a loved one has a disease with no cure. My hope is that someday there will be a cure for PF!
One of my father’s favorite places in the world was Mammoth Lakes, California. We would spend every summer and winter vacationing there as a family. I love all the memories of skiing, fishing, and hiking with my dad. Once my dad developed PF he was no longer able to tolerate the high altitudes of the Sierras and we were not able to go back as a family. We are planning on returning to Mammoth next summer as a family in honor of his birthday.
I have decided to run the Mammoth Lakes Half Marathon that weekend in his honor and also to raise funds for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. My goal is to raise $5000 by my race on June 21st, 2015. I know this will be a very challenging high altitude course that will definitely be taking my breath away! I know my father would be proud of me for taking on this challenge and I know he will be running right alongside of me in spirit. I hope you are able to help me achieve this goal!
