Why I am a Team PFF Event Leader:

Up until 2013 when my brother in law, Kevin was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) at the age of 48, I had never heard of this terminal disease which has no cure. Patients are often misdiagnosed many times before receiving the diagnosis which has a life expectancy of 3-5 years without a lung transplant. It was not long before Kevin was on oxygen 24/7 and the amount of oxygen required each day continued to increase. Kevin was adamant his diagnosis was not going to hold him back. He continued to live his life to the fullest… working on projects around their home, helping their son build a home, play softball and work daily up to and including the day he received the call they had lungs for him. Kevin successfully underwent a double lung transplant on May 20, 2016. We are forever grateful to the donor and their family for this great gift of life. I have admired Kevin's strength, determination and positive attitude thorough out his journey.

While Kevin was the one physically fighting and living with the disease, my sister Karen, has been with him every step of the way. I am in awe of Karen’s loving devotion to support Kevin in every way possible. She has been and continues to be his biggest cheerleader, support, advocate, caretaker… you name it, she has done it. The two of them together are an unbeatable force!

So I am hoping to raise funds for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Net proceeds of this event will go directly to the foundation for much needed research.
