Please join us for the 2nd Annual Wine Down for Pulmonary Fibrosis, an internationally themed wine and cheese fundraiser, benefitting the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF).  This event is in memory of our father, Gary Snyder.
Gary was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in the late 1970’s.  At the time, there was little to no information regarding PF and his life expectancy. He participated in several drug trials in hopes of finding a treatment in case one of his three daughters inherited this disease.  He pleaded for a chance at cutting edge technology, a heart and lung transplant.  It wasn’t meant to be and Gary lost his battle on June 15, 1981 at the young age of 41.

Unfortunately, Gary’s instinct was correct. Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) can be an inherited disease and his middle daughter Heather was diagnosed in 2009.  To the family’s disbelief, there was little medical advancement in the 28 years after his death.  Neither a cure nor a treatment was available, so Heather was also given a death sentence much like her father.  Fortunately, due to medical advancements Heather was able to receive a double lung transplant in 2011.

The Snyder family realizes that a transplant is a treatment option, but it is not a cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Over 40 thousand people die every year from PF and even though 2 medications were approved by the FDA in 2014, there is much work to be done.

In memory of their father, Stacy, Heather and Jennifer are coordinating Wine Down for Pulmonary Fibrosis benefiting the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation . Money raised at this event will bring awareness and much needed funding for research. Please help them advocate and find a cure before someone you love is diagnosed.

If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation in honor or in memory of a patient.  All names will be honored and mentioned during the event.

Thank you for your generosity!
