Eduardo the Elephant raises funds for PFF

As a Registered Nurse, I have cared for patients with pulmonary fibrosis and have seen the decreased quality of life and eventual demise that this disease causes.

My father, age 65, who has always been in good health, was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) just over a year ago. It started with a slight cough and has progressed to requiring oxygen during periods of any exertion, excessive fatigue and being unable to even walk to the mailbox and back without resting and taking time to recover.

This horrible disease causes scarring of the lung tissue, making it difficult to breathe. Symptoms include worsening cough, fatigue, shortness of breath and decreased tolerance for physical activity. The cause is not understood. Treatment is very limited and there is no known cure.

As a nurse, and as a family member of a loved one who has pulmonary fibrosis, I am doing what I can to raise awareness and to assist with searching for a cure. Please consider purchasing Eduardo the Elephant from Avon.

Thank you,
Brooke Burt
